Our Story
So who am I? I’m a slightly germaphobic, workaholic who loves to nap on the couch and read the Saturday newspaper for hours at a time with a very large, very hot cup of coffee. I’ll listen to pretty much any style of music at least once and would say I’m a fan of songs, not artists. I love God, and I’m trusting that He knows what He’s doing through Pockets of Change because I kind of feel like I’m on roller blades (which I don’t know how to use) and He is pulling me along, asking me to trust Him.
Next to me on this wild ride is my very incredible husband. Justin has an eye for design and photography that makes you step back and look at the world differently. He could be in the same setting as 100 other people who will pull out a camera, snap a pretty picture and move on. Justin will try angles, see light, watch movement and after 100 shots might be satisfied with one. That dedication evidenced in his lens is reflected in his love for me. And every day I am amazed that I get to be married to such an incredible man.
We’re excited that God has called us, and we’re ready to use our unique skills for His glory. I am a journalist by trade, Justin is a graphic designer and photographer. The official goal is to find stories of changed lives as people step out in faith. The unofficial goal is to allow God to change us as we step out in faith for the task that lays before us. Come along for the ride, we’d love to share it with you.
Our Project
Our vision is this: by using specific stories of the spiritual and physical transformation of people and communities, we desire to motivate individuals to be a part of a movement of compassion and justice, realizing their potential to effect global change.
Through the Pockets of Change project, the two of us will be traveling the world to collect stories and photos of life change. As an initiative of Hungry For Life, we will spend about six months in about a dozen countries, visiting relief and development project sites and meeting up with missions teams.
The orphan who is off the streets and been given a second chance at life has a story to tell. The widow who has renewed purpose and joy has a story she can’t help but spill. The college student who now wants his life to impact and change the world has a story that needs to be heard. We will be blogging about their own story of transformation as we trek the globe. Please check back often for updates and photos of our whirlwind experience!
But we know that it doesn’t end there. There are many more stories in the making. What will your story be?
